In the middle of December 2015, NIBULON launched its non-self-propelled floating crane of the C14938 project, the company says.
Although this event is symbolic, indicating revival of the shipbuilding sector in the region, the company decided to launch the vessel without solemnities with the participation of the shipyard’s workers.
When the vessel was moved to the shipyard’s pier, the shipbuilders started outfitting works, in particular, they mounted electric equipment, insulation, finished living accommodations, and prepared to test gears.
The crane’s length is 38.5 m; breadth – 12 m, depth at midship – 3.45 m, draught - 1.45 m.
Upon completion of mooring and sea trials and putting the crane into operation at the end of 2015, the vessel will receive the class of the Shipping Register of Ukraine: KE * Ice1 B-R4-RSN2,0 floating crane.
The non-self-propelled floating crane will operate together with Terex Fuchs MHL 385 D transshipment grab mobile crane (Denmark) purchased by NIBULON earlier. They will perform loading/unloading operations in the roads, at the transshipment terminal as well as additional cargo operations, without involving third parties.
The floating crane is designed for loading different types of bulk cargoes. It will help the company to reach up to 3 million tons of grain transported by the Dnipro and the Southern Bug per year.
It should be mentioned that recently two non-self-propelled vessels (NBL-91 project) have joined NIBULON’s fleet family.
Today NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard has developed and successfully implements a production program with one hundred percent workload for the next five years. In 2016-2018, the company plans to build at its own shipyard 13 non-self-propelled vessels (NBL-91, В2000, 90M projects), a self-propelled floating crane (similar to St. Mykolai floating crane), two multipurpose seagoing tugs of 3.5 and 5 thousand hp, plus three pusher tugs (modernized 121 project).
