RUB 3.4 bln to be earmarked for utilization of Sibir and Arktika icebreakers
RUB 3.4 bln will be earmarked in 2016-2030 for utilization of Sibir and Arktika icebreakers under the Federal Targeted Programme “Nuclear and radiation safety of Russia”, FSUE Atomflot First Deputy Director General – Chief Engineer Mustafa Kashka said.
“Our utilization technology allows for cost reduction by a half, some RUB 800-900 mln per an icebreaker,” Mustafa Kashka said. According to him, the works are supposed to be performed within two years and a half instead of four years.
The technology suggested by experts of Rosatomflot implies taking away the reactor plant instead of total breaking of the icebreaker. Next year this work will be executed at Saida Guba (Murmansk Region) together with the North-West Center for Radioactive Waste Management, subsidiary of FSUE RosRao.
