Izhora Plants, subsidiaries of OMZ Group (United Heavy Machinery Plants / Uralmash-Izhora Group), have shipped a VVER-1000 series reactor pressure vessel to the Customer for the fourth unit of Tianwan NPS in China, the Group said in a press release. The project cargo bound for China has already been delivered to the Sea Port St. Petersburg.
The RPV contract was signed in 2010. Izhora Plants will supply for the third and fourth power units of Tianwan Nuclear Power Station (NPS) equipment of primary cooling circuit and VVER-1000.
Izhora Plants have manufactured and supplied equipment of the primary circuit for the first and second units of Tianwan NPS Phase 1. The first and second AES-91 units were commissioned in 2007. These were the first reactors in the world to have “core catchers” installed and according to most experts are among the most safe operating nuclear power plants in the world.
The high quality of the manufactured equipment was key to further fruitful cooperation of Izhora Plants and Chinese partners.
