The number of tugboats of Port Fleet CJSC (Saint-Petersburg) has been increased to 10 with the introduction of two newly purchased tugboats, the Company says.
On January 20, 2016, tugboats Moshchny and Vikhrevoi started providing ice escort services to vessels within the water area of Big Port St. Petersburg.
Damen ASD Tugs 2509 were built at Damen’s shipyard in Gdynia (Poland). Their length max is 25.86 m, width – 8.94 m, aggregate power of each tug (two main engines)- 3,550 h.p. or 2,610 kW. Thw vessels will be classified by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
“Powerful modern tugboats with improved maneuverability will operate in challenging ice conditions, assisting vessels mooring at Big Port St. Petersburg,” says Yevgeny Savkin, Director General of Port Fleet CJSC.
According to him, the tugboats will let expand the range of round-the-year services provided by the Company in Russian ports of the Gulf of Finland and participate in international towing operations towards the European ports.
PORT FLEET Company was founded on the basis of the Port Fleet of Morport SPb OJSC in November 1997. As of today, it performs a considerable part of service operations in the port of Saint Petersburg and neighbouring ports of the Russian part of the Gulf of Finland. The main activity of PORT FLEET is operation auxiliary fleet. The Company operates the fleet of 25 vessels including tugboats, bunkering tankers and oil barges. It can perform any tasks on comprehensive servicing of ships within and outside the port of Saint-Petersburg.
