Heavylift and oversized cargo specialist INCOTEC CARGO under the contract with Atomstroyexport has successfully handled the tenth batch of project cargo of total weight of 355 tonne to be delivered for the 4th unit of Tianwan NPS-2 in China. INCOTEC loaded the second 323-tonne VVER-1000-series reactor pressure vessel (RPV) to M/V TRINA, the company said in a press release.
The cargo was delivered to the Port of St. Petersburg by the manufacturer Izhora Plants, a subsidiary of OMZ Group (United Heavy Machinery Plants / Uralmash-Izhora Group) by special heavy duty tractor-trailer truck on a flatbed trailer. Considering the overall weight and dimensions of the 99-m-long 660-tonne flatbed truck, the cargo was delivered to the 4th district of the port.
The company has tackled the challenging task as Western High Speed Diameter above of the Sea Channel is still under construction, which excluded the possibility of re-deployment of the crane barge "Demag" to the 4th district it was decided to transfer the cargo directly from the flatbed truck by a chartered vessel with on board heavylift cranes.
To perform the transshipment scheme INCOTEC CARGO has prepared the site for parking tractor-trailer truck in the port area for the period of customs clearance procedure.
The company's team and specialists of the port calculated loads on the berth and optimized placement of the flatbed truck, based on the calculation of capacity of the ship's cranes. In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for reloading cargo, the company purchased and utilized synthetic slings instead of the available steel ones.
Preparation of works was carried out in conjunction with the ship owner SALi and a consignee agent in China. At the same time the M/V TRINA ensured her stability during the transfer operation, ballasting and installing pontoons.
The transfer operation was performed under supervision of INCOTEC CARGO team and completed on December 29, 2015.
