Port Posiet (Mechel-Trans LLC, transport division of Mechel Group) has signed an agreement on arranging the transshipment of SDS-Coal product, Mechel says. The port will transship up to 50,000 t of export coal per month.
Under the contract, several batches of coal have already been shipped to the customers in South Korea.
In December 2015, port Posiet announced the launching of third company’s coal exports having signed the agreement on forwarding services with RZhD Logistics. The port is going to increase the share of external client’s coal to 20% of its throughput per year.
Last year, port Posiet exported some 5.1 mln t of coal having preserved it at the level of the previous year.
In 2011-2015, Mechel invested over RUB 3.2 bln into modernization of port infrastructure and creation of the coal terminal of 7 mln t in capacity.
Commercial port Posiet is involved in supplies of coal produced by Mechel Goup’s companies to Asia-Pacific Region. It is linked with the Transsib railway, North-East China, North Korea.
