Samskip has enhanced its rail services to and from Italy by adding a 6th train connecting Padova and Melzo, the company said in its press release.
The rail service directly connects the Lombardia and Veneto areas to the Samskip European multimodal network for fast deliveries into the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Benelux and Scandinavia.
The shuttle is open to all types of intermodal loading units such as 45ft containers, reefers, tank containers and bulk containers. Traction is provided by Hannibal, Contship MTO (Multimodal Transport Operator).
Today, with a total of 34 rail departures for Rotterdam and another six direct rail departures for Duisburg, Samskip offers a fast and reliable alternative to road transport in Italy. The multimodal service provider expects to extend its Italian offerings further in the near future.
