Period of icebreaker assistance is over at seaports of Azov Sea

By the Order of Harbour Masters period of icebreaker assistance is over at the seaports of the Azov Sea from 00:00 (Moscow time) of February 25, 2016. According to IAA PortNews correspondent, this was announced yesterday by Sergei Safonichev, head of the Basin Committee on arranging icebreaker assistance to vessels at Russian seaports of the Azov Sea, at the open meeting in Rostov-on-Don.

According to him, the decision was made amid ice clearing at water areas of Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Taganrog and Yeisk ports in the Taganrog Bay and the Azov Sea as well as stable positive temperature and forecast for weather and ice conditions as of February 22, 2016.

The period of icebreaker at assistance at Rostov-on-Don, Azov and Taganrog ports started on December 31, 2015; at port Yeisk – on January 2, 2016. Ice navigation restrictions were introduced on January 4, 2016.
