In January-March 2016, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 3.46 mln t of cargo (+5.1%). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 7.3% to 2.55 mln t including 661,200 t of paper (-9.3%, year-on-year), 389,400 t of cellulose (+9.2%), 542,120 t of liquid bulk cargo (-4.6%), 368,190 t of loose bulk cargo (+67.7%).
Transshipment of import cargo fell by 0.9% to 905,670 t including 277,940 t of packaged cargo (-12.9%), 128,090 t of dry bulk cargo (1.7%), 280,160 t of liquid bulk cargo (-7%) and 141,700 t of timber (+29.8%).
Transshipment of transit cargo fell by 6.3% to 892,910 t, inland traffic – down 0.7% to 250,536 t.
Transshipment of containeRS climbed by 14.9% to 165,250 TEUs, transshipment of automobiles – plunged 68.6% to 2,282 units.
The number of calls climbed by 2.2% to 645 calls.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. PeteRSburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2014, the port handled 13.4 mln t of cargo (-4.2%, year-on-year).
