In early April 2016, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod, United Shipbuilding Corporation) and Caspian Marine Services Limited (CMS) signed contracts with the assistance of MNP Group for construction and supply of two tankers of Project RST27. According to the Company’s press center the tankers will be delivered to the customer in 2016-2017. 

As of today, the backlog of orders of Krasnoye Sormovo already includes four tankers of Project RST27 including the improved tankers of the project. 

The contract for supply of new vessels complies with the plans of MNP Group on loading the shipyard’s facilities in the shot-term perspective. As of today, the shipyard can annually build up to 10 vessels of this class.

RST27 project vessels of Volga-Don Max class meet the dimensions of the Volga-Don Ship Canal and Volga-Baltic Waterway. LOA - 140.85 m, beam - 16.7 m, depth - 6 m, sea / river DWT – 6,980 /5,378 tonnes with draft of 4.2 / 3.6 m.

The tanker is designed for mixed sea/river transportation of crude oil and oil products (two types of cargo), including gasoline, with no flash point.

The RST27 project was developed to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping KM Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker (ESP). Detailed design was developed by Volgo - Caspian Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod).

Caspian Marine Services LTD operates the fleet of support ships involved in offshore oil & gas in the Caspian Sea.

Krasnoye Sormovo OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards.  It was founded in 1849. In 2011, it entered the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The shipyard is Russia’s leader in construction of civil river and sea-and-river going vessels. Some of Krasnoye Sormovo ships are in the list of Significant Ships of RINA (Royal Institution of Naval Architects). 

United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
