Petroleum Geo-Services data for Norway 23rd round work commitments

All 10 new production licenses on the Norwegian continental shelf are located in the Barents Sea. The PGS MultiClient data library covers all of them, with high fidelity GeoStreamer data plus additional electromagnetic (EM) data in key areas. The Norwegian 23rd Licensing Round announced in May 2016 focuses on frontier areas where the potential for petroleum is less explored. PGS GeoStreamer true broadband measurements offer significantly better imaging in frontier zones, and can also be relied on in early phase reservoir characterization.

Results so far in the Barents Sea show that drilling on combined seismic and EM data has a higher success rate. The real value of EM data is apparent once it is fully integrated with seismic.

Barents Sea Southeast
PGS can provide high density Towed Streamer EM data on all three production licenses on offer in the southeastern Barents Sea, with combined datasets including overlain 3D GeoStreamer broadband data on most of the northern area. Exploration wells will be drilled within three years to fulfill work programs on these licenses. Combined Towed Streamer EM and seismic datasets have been shown to improve well placement decisions.

Geological studies from the Russian sector are also available and can add further understanding of the area.

Alta and Wisting
New Barents Sea licenses are also awarded in the area surrounding the Alta and Wisting discoveries. Here too the PGS data library can offer high density EM inversion results, integrated with 2D GeoStreamer data.
