In January-June 2016, the Port of Tallinn (Estonia) handled 10.7 mln t of cargo (-11.3%, year-on-year). According to the Port Authorities, in June the port handled 1.92 mln t of cargo (+14%, year-on-year). The growth was mainly driven by transshipment of dry bulk cargo which increased by 54%.
In HI’2016, passenger throughput grew by 5%, year-on-year, to 4.6 mln passengers.
Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2014 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 22.44 million tonnes.
