Seaport of Odessa (Ukraine) increased dry cargo transshipment by 6.4% to 10.78 mln t in HI’2016

In January-June 2016, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 10,798,600 t of dry cargo (+6.4%, year-on-year). According to the port’s statistics, transshipment of grain totaled 3.86 mln t (+9.2%, year-on-year), containerized cargo – 3.25 mln t (+28.7%), ferrous metal – 3.13 mln t (flat against HI’2015)..

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 61.4% to 856,000 t. Transshipment of crude oil plunged by 76.7%, oil products – by 86.8% while transshipment of vegetable oil increased 2.2 times.

The leading operator in terms of volumes handled was Brooklyn-Kiev Ltd. (operator of Grain Harbor facilities) with 2,223,100 t (-27.1%). The second leading company was HPK Ukraina (operator of a container terminal on Quarantine Mole) that handled 1,955,400 t (+8.9 %) which is followed by Brooklyn-Kiev Port Ltd. (operator of a container terminal in Grain Harbor) with 1,299,700 t (+77.6%).
 
Throughput of Olimpex Coupe Int. (operates Berths 3-4 of Quarantine Mole facilities) was almost the same as in HI’2015 – 1,175,400 against 1,175,800 t.

Ukraine based Port of Odessa is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov basin. The major stevedore operating at the port is state-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port. The port's annual throughput capacity is 21 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo and 25 million tonnes of liquid bulk. Container terminals can transship over 900,000 TEUs per year. The Odessa Marine Passenger Terminal is capable of handling 4 mln tourists per year.
