In January-June 2016, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 6.79 mln t of cargo (+3.2%). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 4.7% to 5.01 mln t including 1.34 mln t of paper (-2.7%), 761,000 t of cellulose (+11.3%), 1.09 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+10.4%) and 539,100 t of loose bulk cargo (-10%).
Transshipment of import cargo was declined by 0.7% to 1.79 mln t including 531,150 t of packaged cargo (-6.1%), 250,970 t of dry bulk cargo (-13.3%) and 573,480 t of liquid bulk cargo (-0.2%).
Transshipment of transit cargo fell by 3.7% to 1.67 mln t, inland traffic – up 26.8% to 513,170 t.
Transshipment of containers climbed by 17.6% to 325,180 TEUs, transshipment of automobiles – plunged 56.8% to 5,273 units.
The number of calls climbed by 2.1% to 1,293 calls.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. PeteRSburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2014, the port handled 13.4 mln t of cargo (-4.2%, year-on-year).
