Vard Electro AS, a subsidiary of Vard Holdings Limited (“VARD”), one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, has secured a new contract for the delivery of an engineering and electrical installation package for UK’s new polar research vessel under construction for the Natural Environment Research Council (“NERC”), the Group said Tuesday in a press release.
The contract signed with Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Ltd includes engineering resources to support the shipyard in the drawing approval process, complete electro installation onboard, and systems and products developed by Vard Electro. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 100 million.
The 130 metres long polar research vessel, which is expected to become operational in 2019, will be equipped with VARD’s SeaQ Communications system, customized for the tailor-made vessel and including remote management.
