Harbor icebreaker Ahto participates in Nuotta 2016 -oil spill prevention and response exercise, directed by Lapland Rescue Department, Arctia says in a press release. Objective of the exercise is to practice cooperation in oil spills between authorities, organisations and volunteers. Nuotta 2016 will be held in the surroundings of Ajos, Kemi.
In the exercise, Ahto collects oil in formation, positioning behind two vessels pulling an oil drag net. The formation enables vessels to collect oil from a large area.
Arctia Karhu has a year-round oil spill preparedness service contract with the Lapland Rescue Department.
