YRSC’s M/V Kislovodsk delivered Douglas C-47 aircraft to Krasnoyarsk (photo)
On August 29, 2016, M/V Kislovodsk of Yenisei River Shipping Company delivered the Douglas C-47 aircraft to Krasnoyarsk, says press center of YRSC.
Yenisei River Shipping Company assisted in the delivery of the Douglas C-47 aircraft and expedition equipment from Dudinka to Krasnoyarsk (the largest part was 19 meters long, total weight - 8 tonnes) on a free-of-charge basis. Earlier the shipping company transported expedition equipment of the Expeditionary Center of Russian Geographical Society in the Siberian Federal District (RGS SFD) from the Krasnoyarsk river port to Dudinka.
Most works on evacuation of the Douglas C-47 aircraft which was manufactured in the United States then transferred to USSR under the lend-lease and which made a forced landing on April 23, 1947 some 180 km from Volochanka settlement were completed on August 16.
The aircraft is supposed to be the main exhibit of the Museum dedicated to the development of the Russian North which is being created by the Expeditionary Center of Russian Geographical Society in the Siberian Federal District.
