The Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC) and Zvezda Marine Technology ltd, which is a joint venture of Rosneft and Damen Shipyards Group, signed at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, situated in Bolshoy Kamen, a project management agreement to build multifunctional ice breaker supply vessels, Rosneft says in a press release.
According to the signed document, the parties have agreed to conclude by the end of 2016 contracts, envisaging that the JV will be amenable for the construction of at least 4 multifunctional ice breaker supply vessels on the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex.
The joint venture will ensure the scheduling and funds’ allocation of the project, organize the efficient cooperation between the Russian engineering center and Damen project management department as well as provide technological support to the shipyard – both for the start-up of the yard and the execution of the shipbuilding projects.
Zvezda Marine Technology ltd. is registered on the territory of the advanced social and economic development zone Bolshoy Kamen. It is planned that the company will become its resident before the end of the year.
The joint venture represents a group of highly qualified specialists from among employees of the Dutch company Damen and the Russian party, whom will manage shipbuilding projects on the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex.
Zvezda Marine Technology ltd. will share its extensive knowledge of advanced shipyard organization practices, project management and shipbuilding with Russian specialists.
For the purposes of competence and production transfer Rosneft consistently involves the global industry leaders as technological partners into the shipbuilding cluster, which is being created on the basis of the Zvezda shipyard.
This agreement marks the transition to a practical stage of implementation of the project to create Zvezda, a new shipbuilding complex. The agreements reached will help attract highly skilled foreign and Russian talents to the project and will contribute to the development of a shipbuilding engineering and project management center in the Russian Federation, as well as to localize the manufacturing of marine equipment in the Russian Far East.
