Northern Sea Route cargo traffic totaled 4.36 mln t by mid-September

As of mid-September 2016, cargo traffic at the Northern Sea Route (NSR) has totaled 4.36 mln t including 208,500 t of transit cargo, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Svyatoslav Stepchenkov, Head of Shipping Department, NSR Administration as saying at the IX International Forum "Transport and Transit Potential".

By September 16, the Northern Sea Route Administration issued 636 permissions for navigation through the Northern Sea Route including 131 permissions for foreign-flagged vessels. Total number of permissions issued in 2015 - 715.  The official says there were three notices of rejection with only one final rejection.

In 2015, NSR cargo traffic totaled 5.432 mln t including 40,000 t of transit cargo.
