In January-September 2016, Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny (Ukraine) handled 29,609,000 t, down 16.5%, year-on-year, says Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
In the reporting period, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 8.7% to 3.01 mln t including 252,000 t of oil products (-13.2%), 739,000 t of vegetable oil (+12.2%) and 2.01 mln t of chemicals (-14.1%).
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo fell by 18.6% to 25.78 mln t including 15.84 mln t of ore (-17.5%), 2.58 mln t of coal (-29.9%), 1.07 mln t of chemical and mineral fertilizers (-16.1%), 5.36 mln t of grain (-21.6%), 885,000 t of other cargoes (+36.4%).
Transshipment of packaged cargo amounted to 813,000 t (+65.3%, year-on-year).
The port’s container throughput totaled 61,580 TEUs (up 1.6 times).
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny.
