Severnaya Verf shipyard (United Shipbuilding Corporation) says it has launched the Vsevolod Bobrov, combat logistics ship of Project 23120.
The ship was towed to the outfitting quay for further operations.
The Vsevolod Bobrov is the second combat logistics ship of Project 23120 built for RF Navy. The lead ship, the Elbrus, is undergoing the second phase of the sea trials.
The series design was developed by St. Petersburg based naval architecture and marine engineering firm CJSC SpetsSudoProekt. The vessels are designed for loading, storage, transport and delivery of dry cargo ashore and onto other ships, as well as to provide towing, rescue of crews and salvage of stricken ships. With its ARC4 ice class, the Vsevolod Bobrov ship can sail in Arctic waters and break ice of up to 0.6 m thick.
The ship will be fitted with a DPS, two 50-tonne electro-hydraulic cranes, towing winches with towing force of 120 and 25 tonnes, a decompression chamber and firefighting equipment. The ship’s cargo deck will have the area of over 700 sqm.
The ship will also be able to fulfill research tasks, perform bottom mapping and search for submerged objects.
Key characteristics: LOA – about 95 m; BOA – about 22 m; draught – about 9 m; full displacement – about 10,000 t; cruising range – about 5,000 miles; endurance – about 60 days; crew - 27 persons. When involved in rescue operations the ship can accommodate up to 43 persons including crewmembers.
Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov said the Elbrus will join the fleet in 2017, the Vsevolod Bobrov - in 2018.
