Korea Shipsuppliers & Services Association to join ISSA

President KIM Young-deuk of Korea Shipsuppliers & Services Association(KSSA) stated that KSSA will join the International Shipsuppliers & Services Association (ISSA) by unanimous agreement from 43 member nations at the 61st ISSA Convention held in UAE Dubai from 31st Oct. to 2nd Nov.

In this regard, Korea became the 44th member nation of ISSA and will become a member starting from Jan. 1st 2017.

- ISSA Members are eligible to use ISSA logo on their ship supply products and are able to receive various information from ISSA -

Korea was not a member of ISSA where global major shipping & port countries have already joined. Hence, Korean ship supplying industry had difficulties in establishing global network and penetrating overseas market.

Busan Port Authority(BPA, President WOO Ye-jong) has set its goal to develop Busan Port as a comprehensive logistics port which can create various added value and jobs. To this end, BPA built International Ship Chandling Center in Youngdo in Aug. 2012 and established Korea Shipsuppliers & Services Association(KSSA) in Oct. 2014 in order to enhance national competitiveness and develop ship supplying industry.

By becoming a member of ISSA from 2017, KSSA will be able to carry our more active marketing strategies through global network and to find new customers in overseas market. In addition, it will be beneficial to bolstering the national competitiveness and developing ship supplying industry by identifying the latest trend in the industry and benchmarking the advanced management method.

BPA President WOO Ye-jong said “We will provide sufficient support for the ship supplying industry to create high added value.”

Moreover, KSSA President KIM Young-deuk stated “Korea established a foothold to grow its ship supplying companies as global companies. We will endeavor to become a hub for international ship supplying industry.”

ISSA was founded in 1955 and its office is located in London. It has a total of 95 members; 43 national associations(U.S.A, England, China, Japan, Singapore and etc.) of ship suppliers as full ISSA members and associate members in 52 other countries. ISSA is the international ship supplying organization that has the longest history and tradition in the field.
