Cargo base of state customers in the Arctic is expected to grow 4-5 times to 3.2-3.8 mln t by 2030, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Dmitry Purim, Director General of Sovfracht OJSC, as saying at the VI International Forum «Arctic: the Present and the Future».
According to him, current cargo base of state customers in the Arctic is 600,000-800,000 t per year with RF Defence Ministry accounting for 33% of the total volume, so called ‘Northern delivery’ of liquid bulk cargo – for 30%, general cargo under ‘Northern delivery’ projects - 18%, cargoes of Rosatom and FSB – 19%.
Dmitry Purim says, all-inclusive rate for organization of transport supplies in the Arctic is formed by freight rates (57%), profitability (15%), cost of financing (14% ), unloading at off-shore transshipment facilities and over-the-beach handling of cargo (9%), loading/unloading at port facilities (3%), delivery to the place of destination on the shore (2%).
A consortium including Oboronlogistika, Sovfracht and FESCO was established in June 2016 to create a unified transport and logistics system in the Arctic. The consortium currently operates 97 vessels with total deadweight exceeding 1 mln t.
