In the navigation season of 2016, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s IWWs totaled 10.295 mln t (+18.3%. year-on-year), says press center of Azov-Don Basin Administration.
Transit navigation within the Azov-Don Basin was closed on December 1. Last year it closed on December 4.
Transportation of heavy fuel oil fell by 2.4% to 3.023 mln t, sulphur - up 21% to 1.537 mln t, diesel fuel – up 29.9% to 1.261 mln t.
The number of vessel movements fell by 10.3%, year-on-year, to 6010.
The navigation season of 2016 featured much more favorable conditions as compared with low water navigation of 2015.
In November, cargo traffic surged by 65.7% to 1.029 mln t. In the reporting period transit grew by 48.1% to 816,000 t, domestic cargo turnover – surged 3 times to 213,000 t.
In November, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 656 vessel movement including 342 downward and 314 upward (against 630 in 2015: 345 downward and 285 upward).
The depth in November, at the section from the entrance to the 132-th channel to Kochetovsky waterworks was 400 cm, from Kochetovsky to the 3121-th km stretch of the Don – 335 to 400 cm.
The total length of the waterways in the area of responsibility Azov-Don Basin Administration is 691.3 kilometers.
