Russia’s Federation Council recommends RF Government certain measures of shipbuilding and shipping support

The Council of Federation of RF Federal Assembly has recommended some measures of shipbuilding and shipping support to RF Government. According to the Council of Federation Decree, the recommendations include further providing of subsidies from the federal budget to cover lease payments and payments of interest on loans under orders on construction of civil ships at Russian shipyards, as well as looking into partial coverage of costs for acquisition of new civil ships instead of those to be scrapped to encourage renovation of domestic fleet; undertaking of measures targeted at improving the quality of Russia’s inland water ways and ensuring safe navigation through debottlenecking of inland water ways and safe operation management of hydraulic engineering structures;  facilitation of development and submitting to the State Duma of the draft federal law regulating the establishment and functioning of free ports in the Russian Federation in order to enhance their competitiveness; full and timely implementation of the project on comprehensive development of the Northern Sea Route till 2030 (navigation & hydrographic, search & rescue, hydrometeorological support of the Northern Sea Route navigation, construction of new icebreaking ships, development of seaports, designing and production of marine facilities, systems, means of communication and aids to navigation in order to build up the NSR cargo traffic).
