DP World London Gateway Port has achieved full Authorised Economic Operator status, the company said in its press release.
The internationally recognised quality mark, issued by Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, indicates that the Port’s role in the international supply chain is secure and that customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.
Achieving the status will lead to a reduction in delays to cargo passing through the terminal as customs procedures will be simplified, whilst the highest levels of security are upheld.
The AEO initiative was introduced by the European Commission through the Union Customs Code to simplify the customs process.
The designation follows a three-day audit of the site which scrutinised the Port’s security, IT and fiscal systems, and its storage, processing and employment procedures.
