The works on construction of a passenger terminal building have been basically completed in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Press center of the regional government says its readiness for commissioning has been verified today, 23 December 2016, by Vladimir Ilyukhin, Governor of the Kam Territory.
According to Ivan Kapralov, Director General of Commercial Seaport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky OJSC (general contractor of the construction works) the building resting on earthquake-resistant foundation covers the area of 8,500 sqm. The building will accommodate the Harbour Master’s office and the customs services.
Up to 200 persons can be serviced simultaneously in the building. The waiting space, ticket offices, luggage storage rooms and information desk will be arranged in the building in 2017. One of the blocks will accommodate the border checkpoint.
According to Yury Zubar’, Deputy Chairman of the Kamchatka Region Government, the acceptance/delivery certificate is to be signed by the end of the year with the building to become fully operational in 2017.
The construction works started in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in summer 2014 under the federal programme “Economic and social development of the Far East and the Baikal territories till 2018”. The previous passenger terminal building was demolished six years ago. It was built in 1963.
