Rosmorport issues information on current ice situation and icebreaker assistance at freezing ports of Russia

Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) has published information on ice situation and icebreaker assistance at the freezing ports of Russia as of January 13, 2017.

Arctic Basin. Icebreakers Avraamy Zavenyagin and Dudinka (of Norilsk Nickel) perform icebreaking operations at port Dudinka.

Ice navigation restrictions at port Dudinka –Arc4 and above.

Icebreaking operations in the water area of port Sabetta are performed by icebreakers Moskva and Tor. Nuclear-powered icebreakers Taimyr and Vaygach escort vessels to/from the port.

Number of assisted vessels from the beginning of winter navigation -– 44.

Ice navigation restrictions at port Sabetta - Arc4 and above.

White Sea. The following icebreakers proved icebreaker assistance at the port of Arkhangelsk: Kapitan Yevdokimov, Kapitan Kosolopov and Kapitan Chadayev.

Ice navigation restrictions at port  Arkhangelsk - Ice2 and above.

Gulf of Finland. Icebreakers Semen Dezhnev, Kapitan Zarubin, Mudyug, Kapitan Sorokin and Ivan Kruzenshtern escort vessels along the seaway canal of the port of Saint-Petersburg. Icebreakers Kapitan  Izmailov and Saint-Petersburg operate at the seaports of Vyborg and Vysotsk. Icebreaker Vladivostok provides assistance at the seaport of Primorsk. 3 icebreakers are in operational reserve.

Number of assisted vessels from the beginning of winter navigation – 291.

Azov Sea. Icebreakers Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Chudinov, Kapitan Krutov and Kapitan Demidov escort vessels to/from seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Yeisk.

Ice navigation restrictions at the ports of the Azov Sea - Ice1 and above.

Number of assisted vessels from the beginning of winter navigation – 1189.

Caspian Sea. Icebreakers Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Metsaik and Kapitan Bukayev escort vessels through the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal.

Number of assisted vessels from the beginning of winter navigation – 318.

Far East Basin. Icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov provides icebreaker assistance at the seaport of Magadan.

Ice navigation restrictions at port Magadan –Ice3 and above, De-Castri and Sovetskaya Gavan - Ice2 and above, Vanino - Ice1 and above.
