Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 1.9% to 11.62 mln t in 2016

In January-December 2016, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 11.62 mln t mln t of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year), the port authority says.

Transshipment of import cargo climbed by 3.8% to 5.02 mln t, export cargo – down 0.3% to 5.5 mln t.

According to the statement, the port’s passenger throughput grew by 3.1% to 11.56 mln passengers.

The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2015, the port handled 11.4 mln t of cargo (+5.3%, year-on-year).
