JSC Sea Port of St. Petersburg (SPSP, part of UCL Holding) says it invested 643.1 million Roubles to implement its programme of development in 2016 – 2.4 times more than previous year. The growth was due to the increase of investments in new machinery, renovation of storage areas and reconstruction of the existing facilities.
Major part of the funds was invested into purchase of new machinery for SPSP. In 2016 our company put into operation two 32.8t cranes MANTSINEN K-200 (ES), two bucket loaders VOLVO L60GZ with the capacity of 2 cubic meters each, two 33t forklift trucks KALMAR DCF330-12LB, four 10t forklift trucks KALMAR DCG 100-6, ten 2.5t forklift trucks UNICARRIERS, eight 8t forklift trucks TCM and six specialized roll-trailers to move the cargo around the port.
Within the mentioned period the company renovated its storage areas including those intended for the launch of new investment project – container services. Now SPSP has the facilities for handling of 45-, 40- and 20-feet general purpose and reefer containers with all classes of IMDG cargoes (excluding oil products). In addition to standard handling the operations include stuffing/stripping of containers, storage and operations with cargo in containers. The launch of this project contributes both to the expansion of the range of cargoes handled at the port and to the diversification of the company’s service mix.
Also, in 2016 SPSP reconstructed hot and cold water supply systems at the First and the Second cargo areas, renovated the fire prevention system and automated system for commercial accounting of power consumption, which helps to cut the costs of the company.
JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transport group UCL Holding) – the largest operator rendering services on handling of all dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates modern multi-purpose terminals for general and bulk cargoes as well as specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes and containers. In 2016 the company’s cargo turnover amounted to 7.3 mln tons.
