16 warships arrived in St. Petersburg for participation in the International Maritime Defence Show ’IMDS-2017’

16 warships of the Russian Navy headed by the newest Project 1135.6 frigate ‘Admiral Makarov’ arrived and moored at the berths of the Maritime Station and the adjacent water area in order to participate in the ‘International Maritime Defence Show’ (IMDS-2017), says press center of RF Defence Ministry. Among them there are Project 21631 small missile ship ‘Serpukhov’, Project 20380 corvette ‘Stoyky’, Project 12700 mine defence ship ‘Aleksandr Obukhov’, Project 21980 counter-sabotage boat ‘Nakhimovets’, Project 19920 major hydrographic boat BGK-2149, Project 03160 patrol boat ‘Raptor’, Project 23370 multifunctional modular boat.

In total, the IMDS-2017 programme’s demonstration section contained about 50 ships, boats and vessels from the Navy, the RFS Border Guard Service and enterprises participating in the Sow.

The Eighth International Maritime Defence Show (IMDS-2017) will be held from 28 June to 2 July 2017 in St. Petersburg (Exhibition Complex ‘Lenexpo’ – Berthing Complex ‘Maritime Station’) on the basis of the Russian Federation Government’s Order of 19 June 2015 № 1140-r.

The High Command of the Russian Navy, structural subunits of the Navy deployed in St. Petersburg, Baltic Fleet, MESC of the Navy are active participants in the International Maritime Defence Show ‘IMDS-2017’. The themes of the Show include: shipbuilding, weapons and armaments, systems of combat control, navigation, signal communications and daily control, ship power plants, naval aviation, infrastructure of stationing and fleet support, new materials and advanced technologies.

Within the framework of the Show’s programme, it is planned to visit the said ships by representatives of the media with comments by the Navy’s representatives on the main parameters and purposes of the ships.

On the range Rzhevka of the RF Defence Ministry, 10 ship artillery mounts, as well as samples of small arms will be demonstrated in action for official foreign delegations and representatives of the media.

Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, chiefs of control bodies of the Navy’s High Command, leaders of the Military Educational-and-Scientific Centre along with representatives of the Military Industrial Complex and international delegations will take an active part in a number of events (international conferences). 86 military delegations from 76 countries came to participate in the International Maritime Defence Show-2017.

Representatives of the High Command of the Russian Navy will take part in more than 30 events planned by the Show’s programme.

With the support of the St. Petersburg Sailing Union, two traditional Sailing Regattas will be held for the Prize of the International Maritime Defence Show (IMDS-2017).
