Krylov State Research Center has inaugurated its electrical test unit that will let conduct experimental research and tests of electric equipment, EPS and EDMS of up to 40 MW, IAA PortNews coresponent reports.
The ceremony was attended by heads of leading shipbuilding companies, the Board of the Military and Industrial Commission and representatives of Saint-Petersburg administration. The ribbon was cut by MIC member Vladimir Pospelov, KSRC Director General Vladimir Nikitin, Deputy Head of Defence Procurement Department Vitaly Vdovichenko and Head of Moskovsky District Vladimir Ushakov.
Testing of new equipment intended for the world’s largest icebreaker LK-60 was demonstrated during the event.
The unit is equally focused on civil and military products.
The facility covering 2,160 sqm provides a ground for equipment to be tested, a discharge area, administrative and service premises, operator console, etc.
Equipment required for testing will be purchased specially under specific orders.
Starting from 2017, the unit is supposed to be used for testing of the second icebreaker of Project 22220.
