Freight volume loaded across the network of state-owned rail operator Russian Railways (RZD) between January and July 2017 according to provisional figures rose to 727.3 million tonnes, which is a 3.3% gain on the corresponding period last year, RZD press release said.
The loaded volumes include: coal – 206.1 million tonnes (+9.8%); coke – 6.5 million tonnes (-1.6%); crude oil and petroleum products – 137.5 million tonnes (+ 0.7%); iron ore and manganese – 63.8 million tonnes (- 0.2%); non-ferrous metals – 41.3 million tonnes (-0.4%); scrap – 8.5 million tonnes (+ 2.4%), chemical and mineral fertilizers – 33.2 million tonnes (+ 8.5%), cement – 15.4 million tonnes (-1.7%); timber cargo – 26.5 million tonnes (+ 3.9%); grain – 10.5 million tonnes (+ 10.1%); construction materials – 77.7 million tonnes (-6.7%); nonferrous metal ore and sulphur raw materials – 12 million tonnes (-2.3%), chemicals and soda – 15.2 million tonnes (+ 2.2%); industrial raw materials and molding materials – 21.5 million tonnes (+ 11.6%).
The seven-month volumes reached 1433.7 billion of tariff t/km (+ 7.1%), the volume, taking into account the mileage of unladen raicars – 1829 billion t/km (+ 6.7%).
In July loading across RZD rail network was up 2.2% y-o-y to 106.6 million tonnes, provisional report shows.
Freight throughput in July 2017 increased from the same month in 2016 by 5.1% to 208 billion tariff t/km, monthly freight throughput, taking into account the mileage of unladen raicars rose 5% to 264.4 billion t/km.
