Saint-Petersburg, Russia based Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard (SNSZ, a subsidiary of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) in the next three years will implement a project to create a smart and digital shipyard, which will allow the company to boost productivity and shorten the development of new products, the shipbuilding company says in a press release. The project is valued at RUB 350 million and 105 million rubles will be spent from SNSZ own funds.
The project provides for the creation of digital construction environment, of a single database on all components used in the shipbuilding process. In addition, instead of full-scale testis it is planned to conduct 3D computer tests. The project is expected to double the shipyard's production capacity, increase export volumes, and reduce the time and cost of production and maintenance.
"The bulk of funds or RUB 245 million is expected to be received from the National Technological Initiative federal fund, another 105 million rubles are the shipyard's own resources", Volodymyr Seredokho, General Director of SNSZ told the meeting of the Council for the Implementation of the National Technological Initiative in St. Petersburg.
The project is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2018 and to be completed by the end of 2020. Then the model of the smart and digital shipyard, tested at SNSZ, will be used at other domestic shipyards.
Vladimir Seredokho: "The shipyard is set to commence building a digital shipyard, regardless of the subsidy. The subsidy will speed up the process, but in any case we will work on the implementation of this project. "
