Tallink Grupp says it transported 1.2 million passengers in July of the current year, which is the company’s highest monthly passenger count of all time. In addition, Estonia-Sweden and Latvia-Sweden routes also delivered records.
According to AS Tallink Grupp Director of Finance Veiko Haavapuu, the growth was achieved through Estonia-Sweden and Latvia-Sweden routes. “To the Estonia-Sweden route we brought a ship bigger by one fifth than the previous one, and since the end of last year there are two ships instead of one operating on the Latvia-Sweden route,” said Haavapuu.
“Passenger count on the Finland-Sweden route stayed on a similar level and on the Estonia-Finland route it decreased, because in addition to fast ferries there is one cruise ferry operating, instead of the two that were operating before,” remarked Haavapuu.
Similarly to the passenger count, steady growth is also shown by the amount of cargo units transported, which compared to last July increased by 16 percent to 27 666 units. The biggest contribution to the growth of cargo came from the Estonia-Finland route.
Previous monthly passenger records were achieved in July of 2016 and 2012, when the company gave service to 1.188 million and 1.164 million clients, respectively.
