Incheon Port Authority revealed that the container trading volume of Incheon Port last month recorded its highest July trading volume with 261,405 TEU. This is a 12.0% increase compared to 233,492 TEU last year, the company said in its press release.
According to Incheon Port Authority (IPA), this record breaking monthly trading volume has continued for 17 months until last month since the opening of Incheon New Port’s Han Jin Incheon Container Terminal (HJIT) in March last year.
The import trading volume recorded 130,094 TEU which is an increase of 12,210 TEU compared to the same month of the previous year, taking up 49.8% of the entire quantity. As for export, it recorded 128,816 TEU which is an increase of 15,284 TEU compared to the same month of the previous year. Transshipment and coastal trading volume recorded 1,836 TEU, 659 TEU respectively.
As per country, the trade volume with China recorded 158,213 TEU which is a 16.1% increase compared to the 136,301 TEU in the same month of the previous year and the trade volume with Thailand recorded 11,983 TEU, indicating a 46.9% increase. Moreover, the trade volume with Iran which was 1,354 TEU in the same month of the previous year recorded 2,842 TEU, a 109.9% increase.
As per region, there was a 12.9% (21,740 TEU) for the Far East Asia 189,825 TEU) and 7.6% (3,475 TEU) for South East Asia (49,170 TEU) compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, Central American region and Africa recorded 262 TEU and 721 TEU, showing a 83.6% and 36.5% drop respectively.
On the other hand, out of the total 31 product items of container freight handled in Incheon Port, 18 product items showed an increase in volume. In particular, textile for spinning and weaving (1.467 million T(RT)) increased by 10.4% (138,000T) compared to the same month of the previous year while miscellaneous goods (591,000T) increased by 16.6% (84,000T) and wooden goods (181,000T) by 31.7% (44,000T).
239 container ships that have entered into port in July which is an increase of 11 vessels compared to the same month of the previous year. As for the trading volume handled per fleet, an average of 907 TEU was indicated which is a 12.6% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
