Russia to build 70-90 ships worth RUB 400 bln by 2030 under Fishery Development Strategy
70-90 ships worth some RUB 400 bln are to be built in Russia by 2030 under the Fishery Development Strategy, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Ilya Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation – head of the Federal Fishery Agency, as saying at the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo in Saint-Petersburg.
He says this number will include 15-20 large-, 25-30 mid-size and 30-40 small-size fishing ships.
According to the Agency, average age of fishing ships in Russia is 30 years today.
Dmitry Pryakhin, Director of the Marketing and Sales Department at the United Shipbuilding, who also took part in the event, confirmed the ability of Russia’s shipbuilding industry to handle this scope of orders.
Aleksandr Yefremov, Director General of YuzhMorRybFlot, warned, in his turn, about the risk of incorrect technical specifications for the new ships as the industry has lost the competence in this area.
