The large ASW ship Fleet Vice-Admiral Kulakov of the Northern escorted a tanker flying the Indian Flag through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The Russian ship has replenished water and fuel supplies in the port of Salalah (Oman) in the South East of the Arabian Peninsula. After the stopover, the large ASW ship Vice Admiral Kulakov sailed off to escort the Indian tanker through the dangerous areas of the Gulf of Aden and the southern part of the Red Sea.
In the course of escorting, seamen and Marines drilled joint actions to organise inspection of suspicious small-sized vessels with the help of high-speed boats.
The large ASW ship Vice Admiral Kulakov has been carrying out the tasks to ensure the security of civil shipping in the Gulf of Aden since late August after crossing the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. During this period, she has made several escorts of foreign vessels through areas of pirate activity.
