The major ASW ship Vice-Admiral Kulakov finished her long voyage mission in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden area, says press center of RF Defence Ministry. On 17 October the ship entered Suez Canal and began its voyage to the Mediterranean.
The ship has been acting in the southern part of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since the end of August with the mission of supporting Russian Navy presence in the region and securing the civil navigation.
The ASW ship escorted several foreign vessels under flags of Barbados, China and India through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden dangerous areas and secured water area observation.
No pirate attack signals of civilian ships were noted during the Russian navy mission.
The Russian ship conducted business call in Salala port (Oman) in order to replenish its food and water supplies. Tanker Kama conducted bunkering of the ASW ship both on the go and at the stop.
The Vice-Admiral Kulakov left Severomorsk Northern fleet main base on June 29.
On July 30 the ship participated in the main naval parade during Kronstadt journey and after it conducted passage with Russia Navy ship detachment in the Baltic Sea.
The ship entered the Mediterranean on August 12 and then went into Suez Canal in the Red Sea.
During the long voyage the ship passed 15,000 nautical miles.
