Volgotrans is the first recipient of a ship utilization grant, Aleksei Palgov, First Deputy of the company’s Director General, told IAA PortNews.
The state budget subsidy provided to Volgotrans for utilization of old ships exceeded RUB 140 mln. This amount is to cover lease payments for construction of two tankers built in 2017 by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard.
The company has also applied for utilization grant under the project on construction of two contracts under construction at Lotus shipyard.
In the navigation season of 2017 the fleet of Volgotrans numbered 18 ships mostly chartered by Rosneft.
“The utilization grant programme has become operational only through great efforts of the Russian Chamber of Shipping and with the support of the RF Ministry of Transport, Federal Marine and River Transport Agency and Ministry of Industry and Trade”, emphasized Aleksei Palgov.
In July 2017, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard delivered two chemical tankers of Project RST27 to shipping company Volgotrans LLC as scheduled. Krasnoye Sormovo PJSC, Volgotrans LLC and Goznak-leasing CJSC signed the three-party contracts for supply of two chemical tankers of improved Project RST27 on October 27, 2015. The tankers were launched in March and May 2017.
