New Grachnok class counter-terror boat enters service with Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet

The Kamchatka Peninsula, Northeast Russia based naval force patrolling the littoral waters recently commissioned into service a new Grachonok-series counter-terror interception cutter (Project 21980), the Eastern Command press office reported.

This is the fourth ship of the project delivered to Pacific Fleet as part of Russia’s rearmament program.

The boat was designed to combat underwater saboteurs, to provide support of combat swimmers in the waters of the ships homeport. The vessels is equipped with the newest diving complex and modern radio electronic equipment that allows detection of underwater objects.

The Grachonok class counter-terror boat characteristics: displacement - 138 tonnes, LOA - 31 m, beam - 7.4 m, maximum speed - 23 knots, cruising range – 200 miles, endurance - 5 days, complement - 8.
