Busan Port Authority establishes big data phase 1 in the shipping port logistics sector
Busan Port Authority stated on the 14th that BPA has completed the establishment of first phase of the shipping port logistics DB and analysis system which can set up more effective shipping port policies, the company said in its press release.
The DB and analysis system contains 21 services including vessel search, cargo volume prediction, and port operation analysis. It will test run for one month in September and will begin its official operation in October. However, some of its service concerning business secrecies between the interested parties.
The system is created through dozens of interviews with parties interested, hearings, and presentations based on the data of Port-MIS, BPA-NET, Busan Port marine pilots and terminal operators
Reusing the equipment of BPA-NET allowed the developers to save the budget and some of the services are already patent pending.
Moreover, it has BPA SNS to share information and to communicate faster and more effectively. It can be accessed through both mobile phone and web page. Also, the system enables users to hold a video conference anytime and any place.
BPA stated that it will make Busan Port become SMART Port in accordance with the mid-long term road map for the 4th industrial revolution starting with 1st phase analysis system.
BPA President WOO Yejong said “By introducing cutting edge ICT, BPA will ramp up our cargo volume collecting capacity at Busan Port and will do our best to secure superiority in competing with other advanced ports.”
