In January 2018, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 1.3 mln t of cargo (+13.1%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 0.7% to 894,630 t including 252,260 of paper (+20.2%), 117,700 t of cellulose (-15.5%), 136,000 t of liquid bulk cargo (+12.7%) and 162,640 t of dry bulk cargo (13.4%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 154.9% to 409,500 t including 89,100 t of unitized cargo (+7.2%), 104,750 t of dry bulk cargo (+122.7%) and 107,430 t of liquid bulk cargo (+26.6%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 9.3% to 334,720 t, inland traffic dropped by 60.6% to 24,380 t.
Transshipment of containers climbed by 6% to 58,240 TEUs, transshipment of Ro-Ro cargo fell by 2.3% to 1,126 units, automobiles – by 80.6% to 7 units.
The number of calls grew by 15.4% to 232 calls.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2017, the port handled 14.66 mln t of cargo.
