Large landing ship Alexander Otrakovsky holds air defence drills in Norwegian Sea
The large landing ship Alexander Otrakovsky, the Northern Fleet, completing the long-range expedition in the critical areas of the World Ocean, trains to reflect an air threat in the Norwegian Sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
Artillery crews jointly with ship’s operations control centre tracked and eliminated simulated air attack. Besides the MANPAD operators detached from the Northern Fleet Marines trained their skills. The MANPAD crews ensure counterterrorism and insurgency protection of the ship.
Currently, the large landing ship Alexander Otrakovsky crosses the northern part of the Norwegian Sea. The NATO patrol ships and aircraft monitor the Russian ship returning from a long expedition.
