Rosmorport’s icebreakers assisted more than 3,000 vessels in freezing seaports of Russia this winter navigation season
From the beginning of this winter navigation season (as of 1 March 2018), icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport have escorted more than 3,000 vessels, says the company.
Arctic Basin
In the water area of port Sabetta, icebreaking assistance is being provided by the Moskva icebreaker. The number of vessels escorted so far – 80.
White Sea
In this area, icebreaking assistance is being provided by the Kapitan Dranitsyn, Dikson, Kapitan Yevdokimov, Kapitan Kosolapov and Kapitan Chadayev icebreakers. 98 vessels have been escorted from the beginning of the winter navigation season.
Gulf of Finland
882 vessels have been assisted from the beginning of this winter navigation season. 14 icebreakers of Rosmorport’s North-West Basin Branch are involved.
Azov Sea
Escorts to/from seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Yeisk are offered by five icebreakers and three icebreaker tugboats. The number of escorted vessels – 1,656.
Caspian Sea
Escort operations at the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya are being performed by the Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Metsaik and Kapitan Bukayev icebreakers. 351 vessels have been provided with icebreaker assistance from the beginning of the winter navigation season.
Far East Basin
The Krasin icebreaker assists vessels at Vanino seaport. From the beginning of the navigation season the icebreaker escorted 86 vessels including assistance provided by the Kapitan Khlebnikov icebreaker. At the port of Magadan, icebreaking services are being provided by the Magadan icebreaker, 62 vessels have been escorted so far.
Rosmorport’s fleet of diesel fueled icebreakers numbers 36 ships of difficult capacity.
