On 25 May 2018, Kaliningrad-based Yantar Shipyard (United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the Peotr Morgunov, landing ship of Project 11711, says press center of the Kaliningrad Region.

“The ship is named after soviet general-lieutenant Peotr Morgunov, the first USSR Cavalier of the Order of Nakhimov, 1st class”, said Aleksey Rodin, First Deputy Chairman of the Kaliningrad Region Government.

Landing ship Peotr Morgunov is the first serial ship of Project 11711 built for RF Defence Ministry. The contract was signed in September 2014 with the keel-laying ceremony held in June 2015.

The lead ship of the project named Ivan Gren was launched in May 2012. In the beginning of May 2018 the ship completed her sea trials.
