Lead landing ship of Project 11711, Ivan Gren, joins the fleet of RF Navy
Lead landing ship of Project 11711, Ivan Gren, has joined the fleet of RF Navy with the ceremony of raising St. Andrew’s flag held today, 20 June 2018, says press center of the Western Military District of RF Navy’s Baltic Fleet.
The ceremony held in Kaliningrad, at Yantar Shipyard, was lead by Vice Admiral Victor Bursuk, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of RF Navy, and attended by representatives of RF Navy’s Northern and Baltic Fleets, United Shipbuilding Corporation and Kaliningrad shipbuilders.
The flag raising ceremony was held upon completion of sea trials and state tests held in the Baltic Sea.
Lead landing ship of Project 11711, Ivan Gren, was designed by Nevskoye Design Bureau and built by Kaliningrad-based Baltic Shipbuilding Plant “Yantar” (Yantar Shipyard). Project 11711 is the development of Project 1171, which was used in the 60-70s by the abovementioned shipyard for building a series of 14 ships.
The ship’s state trials started in November 2017. The tests continued in early April 2018. The tests confirmed full compliance of ship’s performances with the technical design specifications.
The shipyard continues building the first serial ship of Project 11711, Pyotr Morgunov, laid down in June 2015 and launched on 25 May 2018.
