ZNT Yard launches survey boat Aleksandr Yevlanov

On 27 June 2018, ZNT Yard based in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region launched the first serial vessel of Project 23040Г, survey boat named Aleksandr Yevlanov, says the shipyard.

The boat christened on May 17 is to undergo fitting out and all types of tests upon completion of which the boat will join RF Navy’s Baltic Fleet (in Baltijsk of the Kaliningrad Region).

The boat was named after rear admiral Aleksandr Yevlanov (12.01.1923-18.11-1992), outstanding hydrographer.

The boat is intended for high precision bottom surveying and inspection of navigational hazards at the depth of up to 400 meters as well as for bottom surveying  with a single-beam echosounder at the depth of up to 2,000 meters; servicing of all types of buoys; installation and removing of all types of buoys of up t to 1.7 t and up to 6.5 m; delivery of personnel, food, spare parts and repair teams to nonfloating aids to navigation; navigational and hydrographic support of search and rescue operations; piloting and leading of submarines and large capacity ships at naval bases and approaches.

The self-propelled single-deck steel hull boat has an aluminum superstructure and two-shaft diesel propulsion system with a bow thruster. 

Vessel general characteristics: LOA – 33.04 m, breadth – 6.8 m, depth – 3.4 m, mean draft – 1.6 m, full displacement – about 192.7 tonnes, deadweight – 39 t, speed – about 12.7+0.3 knots, propulsion system: 2x248kW, crew 9.
 
JSC Nizhny Novgorod Motor Vessel Yard (ZNT Yard), based in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, was founded in 1911. Today, the shipbuilding firm with its in-house design bureau specializes in the construction of supply and auxiliary fleet, harbor equipment and marine engines and provides a broad range of services.

ZNT Yard signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation on construction of six large surveying boats of Project 23040Г on 21 March 2016. The third and the forth boats of the series, Vladimir Kozitsky (Hull No 1203) and Boris Slobodnik (Hull No 1204) were laid down on May 17.
