In January-June 2018, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 8.32 million tonnes of cargo (+16.9%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 8.7% to 5.82 million tonnes including 1.4 million tonnes of paper (+3.5%), 673,700 tonnes of cellulose (-14.5%), 1.07 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-0.5%) and 948,250 tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+27.9%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 41.7% to 2.5 million tonnes including 674,320 tonnes of general cargo (+19.6%), 480,770 tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+60.5%) and 497,830 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-3.6%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 24.6% to 2.21 million tonnes, domestic traffic climbed by 5.5% to 432,680 tonnes.
Transshipment of containers fell by 1.1% to 340,630 TEUs, transshipment of Ro-Ro cargo fell by 3.7% to 7,312 units.
The number of calls grew by 11% to 1,391.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2017, the port handled 14.66 mln t of cargo.
