Narimanov, Astrakhan region based Lotos shipyard (part of CNRG Group, a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) is the first shipbuilding company in Russia to take advantage of free customs zone when obtaining equipment.
According to the company, customs privileges were to deliver major units and components for vessels of Project RST 25/7 being built by the shipyard. Among them are steering propellers (Schottel), main engines (Wartsila) and fire systems (Wilhelmsеn Ships Service). From 2014, the shipyard has been a resident of Lotus SEZ enjoying certain tax and customs privileges.
Lotos continues building two chemical carriers of Project RST 25/7. Vessels with deadweight of 6,613/5,132 tonnes are intended for mixed (river/sea) transportation of crude oil and oil products including petrol, as well as vegetable oils and chemical cargoes. The contract was signed with ZAO Goznak-Leasing and shipping company OOO Volgotrans.
For the first time in Russia, a procedure involving IM-78 declaration has been applied in the segment of shipbuilding. No entry fee was taken from the imported equipment, says the statement.
AO Shipbuilding Plant "Lotos", one of the largest companies of the Astrakhan Region and the Southern region of Russia, has qualified staff and great technical capabilities, has certificates of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Russian River Register, GL, Rostechnadzor. Lotos shipyard is an anchor resident of the special economic zone “Lotus”.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (AO USC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates the bulk of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
